Quake Collection Pc
Since Quake is a classic game, a lot of the stuff in these guides doesn't need to change. Modern 'Quake engines' like Quakespasm, Mark V, FTE, and ezQuake are still being developed though, and so the features and behaviors of the newest versions of these engines may be somewhat different than what these guides describe now.
Quake is one of my all time favorite franchises, so this is a collection I needed to have. All right, let’s get started.
I love how the box is decorated with bullets. Whether it’s humans, bots, demons or Strogg, bullets has always been the bottom line.
The back of the box.
Let’s start with Quake 1. The Quad Damage logo is just serious business. I love how the branding looks all gritty and broken. The trademark symbol spoils the atmosphere a little, but oh well. Man, Quake I will always be my favorite.
The CD. I love the consistent design. Four logos. Four trademark logos.
The manual. Notice how the heading is in the iconic Quake font. Being a Quake fan, I’m proud to own this booklet.
I love how the writing is so over the top and cheesy. Old games just know to lighten up.

Rotfish, possibly the most most pathetic enemy in the franchise.

Next, we’ve got Quake II, which is in fact the first Quake game I played. When I was a kid, I received a copy of the Quake 2 demo, and that’s how the obsession started. Anyway, this time, id’s gone with a green color scheme.
The back. There’s a quote from PC Gamer, which is still around! Congratulations.
The CD. Notice how they’ve used the same layout as Quake I’s CD. That’s so cool.
The Quake II manual. It’s too bad how the manual is black and white this time around. Also, they’ve ditched the fun tone for something more serious. It fits the Quake II theme, so that’s fine. When I was little, I used to be afraid of the Berserker.
Last, we have Quake III. I won’t bother blocking out the CD Key. Use it if you want to. We’ve got Quake Live now, anyway.
I still remember the days when id was producing Quake III. With an old computer at home, I couldn’t play it. You can’t fathom how desperate I was to give this game a go. A few months after the game came out, I finally got to try it out at a friend’s house, and I loved it. Good times.
They’ve decided to use a new CD layout this time. A bit sad, but hey, times change.
Quake III features a big manual that doesn’t fit inside the CD case. I guess that’s why the collection came in such a big box.
The bots you fight against. I always use the Doom and Quake guys.
You guys are probably still fragging people left and right with these weapons on Quake Live.

Last, we have a Quake IV poster. When this collection was released, Quake IV was still in production, so the game isn’t featured. I’m not certain if this poster comes with all copies of the collection. Because I bought this off eBay, maybe it’s a bonus. If you know, drop me a word.

Okay, that’s it. If you love Quake like I do, you’ve got to have this collection in your… collection.
