Mobile game maker Gameloft has a reputation for making high quality games that look… familiar. But just because StarFront: Collission looks like a blatant ripoff of StarCraft doesn’t mean I’m any less excited about the fact that the game will be available later this week. Because let’s face it, wouldn’t you rather have a great-looking StarCraft clone for your phone than no StarCraft at all?

Gameloft to release Starcraft on iOS devices—or so it appears. It's not just that the game is a StarCraft clone. Especially with a game as distinctive looking as StarCraft. originally posted 30th of August 2016, last updated 10th of April 2020 I was looking for an app alternative on iOS for the real time strategy (RTS) games I loved and played a lot on the PC and Mac: Warcraft 2 (Warcraft II) and Warcraft 3 (Warcraft III) or games such as Starcraft, Command & Conquer, but it was very hard to find a great one without annoying in-app purchases.

StarFront: Collision is due out for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on February 10th. The game follows the age-old story of three different races of warriors fighting over minerals on an alien planet. Races include humans, a robot race, and an alien race called the Zerg err… Myriad.

You can check out the latest game-play trailer after the break. It looks pretty much like StarCraft. But on your phone. Which is awesome.

Update: It looks like the launch date has been pushed back to February 18th.

Cloning is the act of giving multiple units the same order to different places or enemies.

The Art of Cloning[edit]

Consider the following - You are on a four player map with each player in his respective corner (Kulas Ravine, Metalopolis) and you want to scout each corner of the map with three Zerglings to detect any hidden expansions. To achieve this goal, one could do this:

Method 1[edit]

Starcraft Ios Clone Skins

  • Select one Zergling.
  • Click on one corner of the map.
  • Go back to your base. Select another Zergling.
  • Click on another corner of the map.
  • Go back to your base. Select the final Zergling.
  • Click on the last portion of the map.

This is the brute force way of sending similar units to do the same thing in different places. A far faster method is the following:

Method 2[edit]

  • Select all three Zerglings.
  • Tell all three Zerglings to go to one corner of the map.
  • Deselect one of the Zerglings.
  • Tell two Zerglings to go to another corner of the map.
  • Deselect one of the Zerglings (or select the final Zergling)
  • Tell the final Zergling to go to the final corner of the map.

Note in Method 2 you should be using the wireframes (those in the UI at the bottom of the screen) to deselect Zerglings as it is much quicker. To do this press Shift+Left Click on the icon.

The second method uses Cloning and is far faster to execute than the first method because there is no need to return to the base to click on each individual Zergling. Also, the cloning method gets all Zerglings to their destination faster because all of them are moving as of step 2.

Here's another example. Suppose you are Zerg and you just set up a new base which has 1 Hatchery and 2 Extractors. You want to get the new base set up as quickly as possible. You can send over 10 drones.

Method 1[edit]

  • Select 3 drones.
  • Send to one Extractor
  • Go back to base. Select another 3 drones.
  • Send to second Extractor
  • Go back to base. Select another 4 drones.
  • Send to minerals.

Method 2[edit]

Starcraft Ios Clone Command

  • Select all 10 drones.
  • Send them all to the first Extractor
  • Deselect 3 drones
  • Send all 7 to the second Extractor
  • Deselect 3 drones
  • Send the rest to minerals

Again, the second method uses cloning to achieve the same results but with much faster timing. Also, in the second method all of the drones are moving as of step 2 to go to the expansion which results in minerals hitting your bank quicker.

Here's a video example of Method 2:
