Safari 2.0.4 was the last version to be released exclusively on Mac OS X. On January 9, 2007, at Macworld SF, Jobs announced the iPhone. The device's operating system (later called iPhone OS and subsequently renamed to iOS) used a mobile version of the Safari browser and was able to display full, desktop-class websites. To change your Safari preferences on an iOS device, you'll need to use your device's Settings app instead of the Safari app. On macOS computers, you can change the settings from Safari's Preferences menu. Both the mobile and the desktop share some similar settings, but the desktop version has many more options available. Is there any way to find out (preferably from the device itself)? There doesn't seem to be any menu in Safari Mobile, and thus none to choose 'About' from. If you go to Settings Safari, you see various useful things, but no 'About' or 'Version' or similar, which surprised me. To find this information, click the Apple icon on the menu at the top left corner of your screen, and then select the “About This Mac” command. The name of the macOS release you have installed appears on the Overview tab in the resulting window. The precise version number of your installed operating system appears below that.

As with many types of software, Internet browsers are updated periodically to add features and prevent or patch security vulnerabilities. For these reasons, it is important to know the current version of the Internet browser installed on your computer. To determine the version of the browser you're using, select it in the list below and follow the instructions.
